Planet Muscle
Jeff Everson's Planet Muscle Magazine
Planet Muscle was founded by Jeff Everson, a bodybuilder (Mr. USA, Masters Mr. America) and Strength & Conditioning coach, in 1999 initially as a quarterly offering and then moving to a more steady publication rotation in 2002. Although it aims at the “everyday bodybuilder” the featured front page bodybuilders are often huge, intense training muscle monsters.Even though it is a fairly recent entity, Planet Muscle has risen to the ranks of one of the top and better known bodybuilding/fitness magazines on the market, and can be purchased in major stores like Barnes and Noble. It also has a strong online presence. It has on occasion featured Everson’s well-known wife Corrie (Ms. Olympia six times) on the cover.
Everson provides editorial content such as “When Profit Collides with Truth” and the magazine has the motto of Building Bigger Bodies Faster. The magazine covers the full extent of training, including both steroid and non-steroid approaches. Planet Muscle notes that they provide “real, honest information on nutrition, drugs and supplements, which have efficacy and which are useless.”
As with many muscle magazines, Planet Muscle features women in fit condition and minimally clad, often printed on the cover and in layouts inside the magazine.
Planet Muscle aims its articles at being “cutting edge” both in content and delivery. It is available in an e-reader format for those who want to get it electronically. It also provides some free online articles, exercise science, and strongman training articles.
Everson has also developed Planet Muscle television linked to E! Entertainment and which has ties to the magazine.
