Nasser El Sonbaty Bodybuilder The Professor

Nasser El Sonbaty was born in Novi Pazar Germany to an Egyptian father and a Yugoslavian mother (now Serbia) on October 15, 1965 – March 20, 2013. Nasser began bodybuilding in 1983 and became well-known to his fans as ‘The Professor’ because of his ability to speak many different languages. He won his first competition at a Junior State Championship held in Germany in 1985.

Nasser made his first appearance at the Mr.Olympia in 1994 where he placed 7th. Becoming a professional bodybuilder was a big deal for Nasser, he went on to compete in 53 different IFBB competitions with his best win being the Arnold Classic in 1999.

Nasser was known for his creative posing technique where he would post with while wearing his spectacles which was very unusual. He was often seen as a guest poser in many competitions and despite being over 300 pounds was always able to show an impressive set of abdominals.

Nasser became well-known as a competitive bodybuilder and has to date been featured in many different international fitness/bodybuilding magazines and articles. He has had his picture on over 60 covers as well as the top bodybuilding magazine called FLEX.

Nasser produced a 7 part series called ‘Nasser On The Way’ which is all about his personal advice on the best way to build muscle and how to eat correctly. In the video series he also covers the necessary when it comes to preparing for a competition.

Nasser was determined and was able to qualify for over 10 consecutive Mr. Olympia competitions but only entered nine of them. At the end of his career when he suddenly died in his sleep while visiting Egypt on March 20 2013. Nasser lived in San Diego offering personal training to a selected few clients that would come to his home for advice and tips on how to compete as a bodybuilder.
