Jack LaLanne Bodybuilding Biography

Jack LaLanne Bodybuilder Godfather of Fitness

Francois Henri "Jack" LaLanne born in Morro Bay, San Francisco, California on 26th September 1914. His parents were immigrants that had arrived on a boat from Oloron-Sainte-Marie, which is in southwest France. They first arrived in New Orleans and only a few years later were able to make their way to California.

Jack has been called the "Godfather of Fitness" which starting booming in the 80's because of his tireless efforts. After college jack managed to get into TV and later became the popular host of a television show, which he did for over 30 years as well as writing many books.

Jack was a man with many talents as he also invented the leg extension machine as well as the type of pulleys we use in most gyms these days. He also believed strongly in exercise for the elderly and produced a series of videos showing what exercises should be done on a daily basis.

He told the senior citizens about the idea of exercise on national TV more than 20 years before anyone else did. The proof of this way of life has been shown as the country reaches the lowest mortality rates in history. Health and the benefits of health have been part of our lives but that was before cigarette smoking was banned, so it took people awhile to adjust.

The achievements of this man have had a permanent effect on our lives. Jack Lalanne at the tender age of 21 was the first person to ever open a gym in the USA, which he did when he opened his first gym in Oakland, California,. This was in 1936 when the world was heading for war.

At his funeral in 2011 Arnold Schwarzenegger called Jack LaLanne "an apostle for fitness" and being responsible for the inspiration of billions all over the world to live healthier lives." Jack has been honoured by Arnold when he was acting as the governor of California and gave Jack a permanent seat on the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness.

As an inspiration to so many Jack Lalanne was also inducted by the California Hall of Fame as well as getting his name on his own star along the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. Jack was a Christian man who made the world a healthier place to be and was indirectly responsible for starting the smoking laws in public and many others.
